I am a registered, certified clinical evaluator and treatment provider for DUI/DWI Cases in the State of Georgia. I offer onlineand/or in person service options. Through partnership and no judgment, I will help you navigate the stress of evaluation or complete classes/treatment recommended in a completed evaluation. If you are looking for another type of clinical evaluation, check here.
If any professional person has directed you to have a DUI/DWI Clinical Evaluation or a comprehensive SA(Substance Abuse) Assessment, you must use myself or another REGISTERED evaluator/provider listed here. If you are assigned a general alcohol & drug evaluation, and there is a potential legal component to your circumstances, it is best to use those of us on this list, so that your assessment is valid for any purpose.
Don't fall for the cheapest rate on google or "rushed" services. You want the recipients to trust and abide by your evaluation and resulting recommendations. You should be billed at least the state minimum of $150 for the assessment interview, and potential fees for complicated case intake, additional documentation, state-provided forms, and follow-up needs/information. Evaluators should ask many questions to ensure you receive the right assessments and not charged for anything unnecessary. Employees of the justice system can reject your evaluation & add requirements if they doubt its validity. You want to do this one time, the right way, for peace of mind and finances.
If an evaluator is willing to do your evaluation with no drug/alcohol screening, or without receiving the results of screening you are already doing, my recommendation is to find someone else. We are taking liability by providing legal documents about your risk to others/need for treatment. I would never trust an evaluation that provides results without screening.
Many clients call and say: "I just have to get an evaluation." This is almost NEVER accurate!
Please don't wait for the deadline and expect to just have a "chat" with a counselor.
A clinical evaluation should include:
-payment
-intake paperwork/review of case/circumstance
-legal documents/release of information/consent
-biopsychosocial interview/diagnosis criteria
-collateral information
-incorporation of approved assessment tools (DUI requires ASAM)
-drug/alcohol screening or proof of elsewhere for substance-related evals
-evidence of NO need for intervention or evidence of need for specific intervention
*special state paperwork for DUI evals
WHAT I WISH PEOPLE KNEW:
Evaluations like these are recommended to provide HELP instead of just punishment.
Someone believes that your behavior was related to an issue or problem that CAN be helped and prevented from happening again. Your evaluator needs to know everything. Don't hide any information and provide all paperwork. Your goal is NOT to be "cleared" of any issues if there were contributing factors to any problematic/illegal behaviors. The expectation of the evaluation is to collect evidence of past/present symptoms/behavior, document insight & understanding of the circumstances, show evidence of diagnosis or lack thereof, and recommend interventions or clear evidence of why no further intervention is needed,. The deadlines given to you usually include the evaluation AND any treatment/interventions to be completed, so do not delay!
